What is a Thanadoula?

An end-of-life caregiver (Thanadoula, or death doula) is a person who has been specifically trained to offer non-medical support and guidance, not just to the dying, but also to their families and loved ones.

Preparing to face death in a society that has made talk about death and dying a taboo is not easy. Often, the subject is too emotional or stressful to discuss with our loved ones. The role of the Thanadoula is to open the way for those discussions.

A Thanadoula can accompany the dying throughout the process, help them to prepare, advise about funeral planning and options and much more. They can also provide answers to many questions about death, to help understand the stages and manage fear of death.

Our mission is to help, guide and support you and, hopefully, facilitate a more peaceful, loving and contemplative approach to the edge of whatever mystery lies beyond.

Proudly serving the greater Montreal area, South Shore and Laval.
